Wizard of Oz Sample Glass Raises Eyebrows and Prices

Earlier this year at one of the eastern Pennsylvania shows, the Promotional Glass Collectors held their fall meeting. One of the collectors brought along the glass pictured to share with collectors. He knew it was a great find - a 5" Brockway glass with the Munchkins of Oz with a sample Brockway sticker on the bottom. The glass was probably considered for use with the Dunkin' Donuts glass promotion done in the late 1970's. The Dunkin Donuts promotion only had one glass that was officially distributed. This glass shows three of the Oz characters holding hands on this same size and style tumbler.

While this glass wasn't originally for sale, it did change hands before the weekend was over for $1200.00. However, this is not the highest price I've documented for promotional glass sales. There have been others that have been slightly higher. Interestingly they have been Oz glasses as well.
