Sour
Puss & Gandy Goose and Heckle & Jeckle
from the six glass set of Terry Tunes
In
the June/July 1999 Issue No. 54 of Collector Glass News
we show the complete boxed set of six of these terrific
early glasses. They date to the 1940's are a difficult set
to complete. The other glasses in the set in addition to
the Sour Puss & Gandy Goose and the Heckle & Jeckle
shown are: Dinky, Mighty Mouse, Terry Bears, and Dimwit.
I have seen more Mighty Mouse glasses that any others in
the set. This is only the second Heckle and Jeckle I've
seen, although I know a couple of other collectors who own
it.
Last year a complete boxed
set of six sold for $1580.59 on eBay. At a little over $250
per glass, it seemed like a bargain. These two glasses are
lots #4 & #5 in the current CGN Auction that
closes on August 5, 2000.
The
two Tom & Jerry glasses pictured to the left show a
prototype and the final production item from the Welch's
Tom & Jerry issue of 1990. The glass on the far left
is the prototype. Notice that it has a green background
graphic, more detail graphics on the character, and a total
of four colors used. The actual production issue used only
three colors and more limited graphics. The prototype is
lot #691 in Auction #54.
