Glass News Auction #59 closed on June 9, 2001. Collector
Glass News has been fortunate to have a number of rare of Pepsi
sample and prototype glasses in their past auctions. The past auction
was no exception. This auction featured three very desirable 16
oz. Brockway style glasses. The first was another glass from the
Terrytoons set. This character is Sad Cat (not Sad Sack as mistakenly
written in the current newsletter). The glass is dated 1977 and
has a Pepsi logo. This glass sold for $5113.00.
The second glass shown is from a
DC Comics Interaction set that was never produced other than in
sample form. There are at least three different glasses in this
set. This glass is dated 1977 Pepsi DC Comics and shows Batman kicking
Joker as he comes out of a safe. There are beautiful wrap around
graphics, and this glass has a Brockway sample sticker on the bottom
too. This glass sold for $3185.00
The last glass shown is a stained
glass design that never went in to production. It has an elaborate
filigree design on a 16 oz. Brockway tumbler and brought $532.00.
