CGN
Records Record Prices for
Collector
Glass News Auction #58 closed on April 22 with record prices being paid
for two Pepsi sample glasses. Only a few of the 1977 Terrytoons complete
sets were ever produced, and they were never released as a promotion. Most
glass collectors are familiar with the only glass from this set to be distributed,
the 1977 Pepsi Terrytoons Mighty Mouse glass. This glass is considered by
many Pepsi collectors to be the most difficult of the distributed Pepsi
cartoon glasses to find. The Deputy Dawg glass closed at $2569.00 and the
Lariat Sam, which also has a Brockway sample sticker on the bottom, sold
for $2825. These prices eclipse the record set in CGN Auction #56
of $2343.00 paid for the 1977 Pepsi Hanna-Barbera Frankenstein Jr. glass.
The Disney Musical Notes Series from the late 1930s brought strong prices too. This is a difficult series to locate, and these two characters, Clarabelle Cow playing the flute and Pluto howling at a music stand, are rarer than some of the others in the set. The Clarabelle Cow glass sold for $292.00,and the Pluto sold for $424.00. CGN's next auction will take place in June. |
